Zoom Killer? Apple's AR Game-Changer
Introduction: Apple Vision Pro brings friends closer, no matter where they are.
Main Points:
Apple Vision Pro Update: The latest update introduces 'spatial Persona', allowing up to five people to join in movies, games, and work in AR together.
More Lifelike Avatars: The avatars now move and look more natural, enhancing the sense of being together.
Engaging Interactions: Users can share experiences like watching movies in a virtual theater or collaborating on projects with realistic presence.
Accessible Anywhere: This feature bridges distances, making it feel like you're in the same room with others.
Why It’s Important: Brings people closer, transforming how we connect, work, and play, making distance meaningless.
How to use Spatial Personas:
To use it, everyone needs to have Apple Vision Pro and update their software to visionOS 1.1 or newer. When you're on a FaceTime call, just tap the Spatial button to start seeing your friends as if they were right there with you. If you don't see the Spatial button, check your software update or restart your device.
While using spatial Persona, you can move your friends around in your space by pinching and dragging their Persona. Depending on what you're doing together, your friends' Personas will move around too. For example, if you're watching a movie, they'll appear next to you, but if you're playing a game, they might be across from you.
If you want to stop using spatial Persona, just hit the Spatial button again in the Control Center, and everyone will go back to being in little boxes on your screen.

Leveraging AR in Manufacturing - 3. Training and Skills Development
a mini-series consisting of 5 applications
Training and skill development are crucial for keeping up in today's fast-moving world. Traditional ways of learning might not always catch or keep our attention, making it hard to remember and use what we've learned. But augmented reality (AR) is changing the game. It makes learning immersive and interactive, which can really help with understanding and remembering new information. Let's dive into how AR can boost training and skills.
Key Points:
Real-world Simulations: AR lets learners practice real-life situations safely, making it perfect for learning complex skills in medicine, engineering, or flying planes.
Visualizations and Demonstrations: With AR, learners can see 3D models and animations right in front of them, helping them grasp complicated concepts or processes easily.
Interactive Training Materials: Traditional training books or guides become much more engaging with AR, offering videos, animations, or quizzes to explore with just a smartphone or tablet.
Remote Training and Collaboration: AR breaks down distance barriers, letting people learn and work together from anywhere, opening up opportunities for virtual classrooms and global projects.
Performance Support and Feedback: AR offers tips and feedback right when learners need them, improving skills and building confidence quickly.
To wrap it up, augmented reality is a breakthrough in how we learn and develop skills. It makes learning not just more effective, but also a lot more engaging and accessible, no matter where we are. By tapping into the possibilities of AR, individuals and organizations can reach new heights of learning and performance.
Basemark, a company specializing in augmented reality (AR) software, has successfully raised $23 million in Series B funding. This Helsinki-based firm develops AR tools for the automotive industry, enhancing how car manufacturers create AR applications for vehicles. The new funding will allow Basemark to expand its operations into Asian markets such as Japan, China, and South Korea, and continue its growth in Europe and the United States, aiming to improve driving safety and experience through its Rocksolid AR software.
The global digital twin market is predicted to grow by USD 32,784.18 million from 2023 to 2027, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 39.92%, as reported by Technavio. North America, driven by advanced technology and key industries like automotive and aerospace, is expected to lead this growth, contributing 43% of the overall market expansion. The integration of technologies such as big data analytics, virtual and augmented reality, alongside AI and machine learning, is fueling the market across diverse sectors, from healthcare to manufacturing, emphasizing the importance of digital twins in enhancing operational efficiency and predictive maintenance.
Quintar, a company based in Santa Clara, California, has secured an $8.2 million investment from Centre Court Capital as part of its Series A funding to advance its spatial XR (extended reality) technology. This technology aims to enhance sports experiences by using augmented reality (AR) to provide fans with more data, deeper stats, and a more immersive live-game experience. With this new funding, Quintar plans to grow significantly in 2024, developing cutting-edge AR content for mobiles, TVs, and wearables, promising to transform how fans engage with sports content.
The chart shows the impact of VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) on jobs and GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth from 2019 to 2030. In 2019, there were 824,634 jobs enhanced by VR and AR, which is expected to jump to 23,360,639 by 2030. The USA leads with a projected GDP increase of $537 billion, followed by China and Japan. Additionally, the 'Rest of the world' category shows a significant GDP boost and job enhancement, highlighting the global influence of these technologies.
